The distillery was originally planned for the borders region, where the founder's great grandfather blended whisky in a grocer's shop.
However, it was eventually built in a repurposed hotel on Raasay and also includes a visitor centre and luxury accommodation.
The distillery is designed for some experimentation with both fermentation and distillation.
